10 WoW Cataclysm Tips/Tricks/Strats/Hacks/Ways to Prepare Before Release
We all by now know the general details of WoW Cataclysm, and I’m sure we’re going to find out much more in the days ahead with the WoW Cataclysm Beta release just around the corner. There is no doubt that the time before any expansion is usually a very strange one, you’re not sure if its worth raiding or even if it’s worth playing until the expansion comes out because everything becomes pretty much reset. Well let me remind you that the time before any expansion is one of the best times to play, because with a little preparation you can truely get an advantage over your fellow guildmates or rival guilds when the new expansion is actually released.
So without further delay, I present you 10 tips/strats/ideas/ways you can prepare yourself for WoW Cataclysm that will grant you an immediate advantage over rival players.
1) Get at least 20 solid members in your guild
Guild leveling will take the most XP from the top 20 contributors only. This is good in that even smaller guilds can outrank the biggest guilds on the server, just make sure that you have at least 20 hardcore guild members who will consistently play alot and contribute to your guild experience and help you with your guild powerleveling.
2) Max out your professions

This is a no brainer, but it becomes especiallly important in this Cataclysm expansion when professions are being made more useful than before. Reforging will be a incredibly popular and money making ability that can get you rich with the right preparation. Fishing in WoW Cataclysm is also said to become exciting again so make sure you have it at max level before the expansion hits
3) Get Heirloom items for your new Goblin and Worgen alts
Heirloom items will only last until level 80, but that doesn’t mean your new Worgen and Goblin alts shouldn’t be decked out in them. It will be the fastest and easiest way for you to level as a Goblin or Worgen in WoW Cataclysm
4) Soak in the ‘old world’ as much as possible
We all know that the old Azeroth we have come to love will no longer be around once the catastrophic cataclysm destroys it to bits forever and changes the landscape we have all spent days getting to know. So if need be, make one more alt, get a new friend to join you, and slowly but surely level your way through the originial World of Warcraft for one last time. Make sure to take lots of screenshots along the way.
5) Get in the WoW Cataclysm Beta and Start Planning
First of all you should really learn the instances/dungeons by heart. Blizzard has said that the new cross-server LFG will have one ‘group leader’ assigned that will lead the rest of the players through the dungeon. They have also said that this leading player will be rewarded in some way for their leadership efforts. So make sure you know the instances and bosses in WoW Cataclysm by heart so you can share strats with your pick up group. Knowing the strats is also useful in general for faster leveling once Cataclysm is released and you rush your way to level 85.
Besides this you should also make a leveling guide, which items you will go for, what your talents you will choose etc.
6) Practice the Old Battlegrounds
With the arrival of rated battlegrounds in WoW Cataclysm, those standard Arathi Basin, Alterac Valley, Warsong Gulch, and Eye of the Storm battlgrounds you use to just /afk in will gain much more importance. It will be a great source of ‘arena points’ to become top quality gear. However, you should be warned that many guilds will join these battlegrounds together and having strats/coordination/pots and whatever else technique to get an edge over the competition. It is a good time to go back with your PVP team to these battlegrounds and master each person’s role in the battleground. Also you should have a guild bank full of bandaids, potions, and other consumables for when the rated Battlegrounds hits. (if those are still allowed of course)
7) Recruit Friends
The time before an expansion is always the best time to recruit some new friends into the game. You can spend all your time powerleveling them and they can be an equal to you once the expansion arrives – this removes the biggest hurdle usually in getting new people to join. While you may have tried your luck in previous expansions, you never know when one of your friends starts having too much time on his hands, and is looking for new ways to relax. Especially in the current recession, people are looking to spend less for entertainment and with cheap WoW Cataclysm costs, you won’t really breaking their bank either. As we all know, friends are among the biggest assets you can have in WoW, both for maximizing your effectiveness in game and in maximizing the fun.
8 ) Take a Break

Sometimes the biggest advantage you can give yourself prior to an expansion is taking a break from the game. This sounds counterintuitive but alot of players suffer from burnout after they play the same game over and over for years. Perhaps a little break and spending time away from Wow cataclysm will increase your motivation for when the expansion does come out. Also taking a break will help you strengthen other areas of your life – which will be come in handy when you disappear the weeks and months after WoW Cataclysm does come out.
9) Transfer your character to the other faction 60 days before the WoW Cataclysm release date

Ok this is for hardcore players only and might not apply if the race change feature is introduced before the expansion comes out. But if you want to make sure you have the race with your favorite racials in the new Cataclysm expansion then you should be ready to have your character on the opposte faction 60 days before the expansion hits so that you can immediately transfer to the race of your choice in your current faction on the day WoW Cataclysm goes gold. (Reason: cooldown for faction change is 60 days)
10) Cover the basics
Make sure to get everything in place before the expansion, this means: build up enough money so that you can buy all the new stuff you want once the expansion arrives, get that flying mount as it will be more useful than ever, master your proficiencies with all weapons, reformat/defragment your computer if necessary, clear bank space, have your quest log full of completed quests so that when the expansion hits you can get a instant boost, and stock your fridge full of microwave food and redbull and save one week of annual leave for the day WoW Cataclysm is released.
That covers the best ways to get an edge in WoW Cataclysm ahead of its release. One more thing you can do is to copy this link: WoW Cataclysm and paste it into your guild forum so that all your guildmates can get prepared so you can all kickass in WoW Cataclysm together.
